Agave guiengola
This species is endemic to Mexico where it occurs on lime stone formations.
| Uses: | A stunning plant for large containers or planted in a protected spot in the succulent garden. |
| Flowers: | When mature this plant produces a 1.5 to 2m tall spike with pale yellow flowers. |
| Growth Habit: | It is a medium sized species mostly solitary with a large open habit forming a rosette up to 1 metre wide. The glaucous blue-grey leaves 55cm long by 15cm wide are thick and succulent, widening dramatically near the midpoint and tapering sharply to the tip to form a wide channel. Dark teeth and spines accent the pale leaves. |
| Growing Guide: | Tolerant of dry partially shady locations it is a striking choice to use under taller growing plants and trees. Tolerant of a wide range of climatic conditions providing it has perfect drainage. Plant in full sun to light shade and irrigate only occasionally in coastal gardens to regularly in hotter inland gardens. Protect from frost to avoid disfiguring the foliage. |
