Aloe barberae (syn. Aloe bainesii)
'Tree Aloe'

Striking tree known by the Zulus as ‘The Big One’,
Aloe barberae is Africa’s largest Aloe reaching up to 18m
in height with a stout trunk and forming a striking sculptural tree
with a rounded neat crown to 6m across.

Uses: Ideal for rockeries and general landscaping and looks fantastic in a decorative pot.  It is a great resource for sunny, hot spots.
Flowers: The inflorescence is simple or divided into three side branches with dense terminal cylindrical racemes. The tubular flowers are rose pink tipped green and appear during June to August.
Growth Habit: It is easily distinguished by its smooth grey bark and forked branches bearing terminal rosettes of sword shaped green leaves 60-90 cm long leathery and concave with small white teeth along the margins.
Growing Guide: Grow in rich well-drained soil in full sun in a mild frost-free climate with summer rainfall.
