Aloe ferox
'Cape Aloe'

Solitary robust single stemmed plant that grows slowly
to 2-3m high and1.5 m in diameter.

Uses: Ideal for rockeries and general landscaping and looks fantastic in a decorative pot.  It is a great resource for sunny, hot spots.
Flowers: The spectacular showy flowers are carried in a large candelabrum-like flower head. There are usually between five and eight branches, each carrying a spike of many flowers. Flower colour varies from yellowy-orange to bright red and occurs between May and August, or later in colder areas.
Growth Habit: The leaves are a dull glaucous green that turn red in hot dry periods, with the leaf tips curving slightly downwards and reddish spines along the leaf edge. Spines may also be present on upper and lower surfaces of the leaves. Young plants tend to be very spiny.  This species is characterised by persistent dry dead leaves clothing the stem
Growing Guide: Grow in full sun to light shade in fertile free draining soils. Water during the growing season is beneficial. Very cold tolerant spec.
