Aloe marlothii
Aloe marlothii is usually a single stemmed plant to 2-3m
with a large rosette of fleshy grey-green leaves that
may take on a reddish tinge in dry conditions.
Dark brown spines are present on both surfaces of the leaves.
| Uses: | Well suited to a rock garden, on a sloping bank or even in containers. Plant in bold clumps. |
| Flowers: | The inflorescence is a many-branched panicle with up to 30 or more obliquely inclined racemes densely packed with standing flowers that may vary in colour from gold to red. |
| Growth Habit: | This species is characterised by persistent dry dead leaves that can give it an untidy appearance. |
| Growing Guide: | Plant in well drained, rich soil in full sun in a frost-free site. The plants will benefit from a regular mulch of compost. Can withstand long periods of drought, but they will thrive and flower more profusely if watered in the summer growing season. This species is dormant in winter; keep it totally dry at or around 40°F (4°C). |
