Aloe peglerae
Aloe peglerae is a small, stemless aloe with grey-green
leaves that tend to curve inward forming a compact formal
rosette that becomes tinted red in hot dry weather.
| Uses: | The plants look good when planted in groups of three to five in natural grass vegetation as they appear in their natural habitat of the SA veld. They can also be grown in large pots or in a rockery with good drainage. |
| Flowers: | Aloe peglerae flowers in winter on a single flower stem densely packed with dull red flower buds opening cream and with purple stamens protruding from the flower tube giving the raceme a bi-coloured effect. |
| Growth Habit: | The leaf surface and margins have reddish brown spines springing from white tubercles and a terminal spine. |
| Growing Guide: | Grow in fertile free draining soil in a warm frost position; water during the growing season. This species is dormant in winter; keep it totally dry at or around 4°C. |
