Cordyline australis
'Tauranga Bay'

A slow growing, slender, evergreen tree with each stem
crowned by a palm-like cluster of strap-shaped leaves.

Uses: A useful subject for mixed shrubberies.  An ideal container plant when young.
Flowers: Small, scented, white flowers are produced from the crown in spring.
Growth Habit: This New Zealand native plant will eventually reach 10m high after many years.
Growing Guide:

Thrives in moist, well drained soil in a sunny to partly shaded position.  Tolerates dry conditions when established.  Tolerant of coastal conditions.  This hardy, adaptable tree is relatively pest and disease resistant.  Protect from frost when young.  Cultivate soil before planting.  Dig hole twice the width of the container.  Remove plant from container and place in the hole so the soil level of the plant is the same as the surrounding ground.  Fill hole firmly and water in well even if the soil is moist.
